2010 March 2nd I attended a meeting yesterday and was surprised to hear that an employer and the HR team has negotiated a contract that disallowed it's workers sick pay if they were injured whilst participating in dangerous sporting events or holidays such as skiing. Why would a company penalise an individual for participating in activities that increase happy hormones and decrease stress, so improving attendance and productivity? Did they also preclude individuals from sick pay for illnesses related to smoking, poor eating habits, high alcohol intake, being underactive and other risk taking and accepted behaviours?
